I think George Bernard Shaw said it best: “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing”. And I don’t want to grow old.
Christoffer ÖstbergWonderfactory Artist, ENKÖPNG, SWEDENChristoffer Östberg (b. 1980), is a father of two who lives in Enköping, Sweden, and works as an Oceanographer for the Swedish Armed Forces. He studies underwater dynamics to help the navy operate effectively in the unpredictable weather of the Baltic Ocean. This proximity to the elements has given Christoffer much inspiration in his photography, who puts his subjects through extreme conditions to capture some truly amazing images. |
For masterfully using fire, water and ice in his photography, he is known as one of the most courageous LEGO macro photographers in the toy-photographer community. Christoffer has been a fan of Star Wars ever since he saw “The Empire Strikes Back” in 1986, and decided to merge his love of LEGO and photography into one artform, creating Star Wars-themed toy photography that amazed the community. He loves that toy photography allows him to tell stories and revisit memories from his childhood. Most importantly, he plays with his toys together with his kids, and draws much inspiration for his photos from their imagination. “It’s a joy finding new ways to play with these bricks, casting away the innate limitation in the plastic pieces and making them come to life. I am especially satisfied with the pictures involving fire and snow in the Swedish winter; not having control of the situation, I am acting within a limited time frame with the camera to capture what is unpredictable, whether fire, wind, water or earth. They capture a moment in time, impossible or almost impossible to reproduce, thus triggering a realistic cinematic feeling. I love the challenge.” |
