What the artist offers the world, is how he sees things… his version of the reality.
Isaac RenteriaWonderfactory Artist, Tuxtla Gutiérrez Chiapas, MexicoIsaac Renteria (b. 1984), grew up in Mexico and was exposed to the world of art and design from a tender age through his father, who was a furniture designer. He taught himself painting, woodcraft, and photography, and at the age of 15, decided to leave school to create his own future. He started toy photography on a Nokia smartphone camera, and bought his first DSLR (Sony Alpha) two years later. |
Isaac is a keen student of art history and its movements, with strongest interest in conceptual and abstract art, and is what the community regards as the rare ‘purist’. He refrains from reproducing what he sees in the movies and on television, and thus has a very small collection of work involving movie franchises, or other characters popular in mainstream culture. He collects a wide variety of toys, but an even more diverse range of decorative and tiny items that he uses as props in his toy photography. He also builds his own dioramas as backdrops, that he immerses his toys in. He is so good at it he has even won contests as a modeller, customising and painting model kits from out of his collection. Isaac is an established artist, and has a steady client following in the United States and Mexico. His art is often featured in the media, and is often purchased by art connoisseurs to decorate hotels, and by private collectors for some very exclusive homes. |
