Jay Dhiman

A photograph gives us the opportunity to pause the noise and focus on something we could have missed otherwise.

Jay Dhiman

Wonderfactory Artist, Manchester, United Kingdom

Jay Dhiman (b.1980) was raised in London and has now settled in Manchester with his family, and works as a quality assurance analyst in the test publishing industry.

Jay grew up with photography at the core of his life through the direct influence of his father, who was a studio photographer. From the time he was a teenager, Jay has had a camera in hand to capture life’s endearing and surprising moments, and experimented with a wide range of photographic techniques.

In adulthood Jay turned his passion for photography towards his vast collection of toys of Marvel, DC, Lego, Star Wars and classic 80’s movies characters.  He started by taking pictures on his kitchen top using film cameras, but has evolved into more elaborate setups using various types of equipment. His favourite form of photography is macro-based portraiture in both analogue and digital form. He enjoys the challenge of telling a story through photography  by playing with shadows to sculpt his subjects.

Jay regularly exhibits in galleries in Manchester and produces pieces on commission.
