He first got interested in photography in 2013, shooting portraits and engaging in street photography, before stumbling upon the toy photography community on Flickr. Amazed by how a few LEGO minifigures can help a photographer freely and creatively tell intricate stories, Yohanes started to challenge himself the same way. Yohanes collects mainly Star Wars figures & LEGO, but also keeps any other toys and props that he feels can contribute to his story telling. He produces pictures that are technically challenging in his studio, with minifigures in amusing situations, to entertain himself and his followers. In recent years, Yohanes has started creating symbolic conceptual art that has been popular with modern art connoisseurs. He is active on photo-sharing site Instagram, and is a respected leader in the Indonesian toy photography community. |
