FIRST SURF

Who would be first?

This picture was taken by Wonderfactory Artist Dominique Ambs in 2015 while on vacation at a world-renowned surf spot on Saint-Leu beach, French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean. The beach is known worldwide by the surfing community for its famous lefts which provide a surf route rated 5-stars by surf-guide Stormriders. 

However, a horrific spate of 10 shark attacks in 2 years with 3 fatalities resulted in surfing being banned for a a period of time in 2013, and ever since, the spot continues to be plagued by periodic shark attacks on adventurous surfers, and is regarded as a black spot by the surfing community.  

Intrigued by the circumstances while visiting at dusk, Dominique was wondering who would be bold enough to return to catch First Surf at sunset, when he found the inspiration for this beautiful shot.
