Isaac found the inspiration for this image on a cheerful, sunny day while watching a bouquet of peonies being delivered to his house. He does not remember what the delivery was for but remembers clearly how he was caught by the subtle changes in the beautiful shades of pink within each peony, and felt that he had to deconstruct the image of the peony into shapes and colours.
It took Isaac 7 attempts to accomplish the special shape of the ink in this image. The beauty of the image is especially brought out by the composition between Kitty, the ink and the negative space adding balance to the strong colours and complex details, creating a measured vigour to the visual.
This image is one of Isaac's favourites from his large body of work. He finds it very cheerful and pink happens to be his favourite colour to photograph. The ink very majestically props up Kitty, in celebration of her coming of age as a personality.
